A porch swing under a maple, loaded with knit blankets and pillows. Pumpkins on the stone below, a lantern already lit. Behind it, a cottage with the windows glowing and the door shut against the cold.

Twenty-three colors, and the palette is where the work is. The swing is near-identical creams — cable knit, chunky knit, fringe — shades that look like one another in a tray and nothing like one another on the canvas. That is the whole trick of this piece. Place them right and you can see the stitches. The cottage windows and the lantern are the only warm light in the frame, and they carry it.

What you are actually buying. Not a porch swing. The evenings — hands busy, tray full, light on over the table, phone in the other room because you cannot pick it up with wax on your fingers.

About the drills. Customers have never asked for more drills, but if you need them, we will provide them. Kits come overpacked because the alternative is you, at eleven at night, short of a color, with nothing to do about it. Every bag sealed, numbered, DMC code printed on the front — which matters more here than usual, on a palette of creams a tray light will not tell apart.

HOW IT GETS TO YOU

This canvas is available in 3–5 weeks. It is not sitting on the shelf behind me yet.

When it arrives, every canvas is unfolded, rolled, and re-bagged by hand before it leaves here. Then it ships in a box, not an envelope. That is slower and it costs more. We do it because a canvas that spends a week folded in a mailer is a canvas you fight for every hour you work on it.
