A deep armchair pulled up to a window. A blue wool blanket over the arm, a book open and waiting, tea going cold on the side table. Frosted pine in a white vase. Outside, snow on the trees and a low winter sun coming through.

Twenty-one colors on a canvas this size means you are changing color constantly — there is no long easy stretch anywhere in it. The blanket is the reason. Chunky blue wool is a dozen shades doing the work of one, and the entire illusion of the knit lives in the shadows between the cables. Take those out and it stops being wool and starts being a blue shape. The cream chair and the sherpa pillow are the same trick in reverse, in near-whites.

This is not a first kit. It is a small canvas that will keep you honest.

What you are actually buying. Not a chair. The evenings — hands busy, tray full, light on over the table, phone in the other room because you cannot pick it up with wax on your fingers. The joke writes itself on this one: you will spend a month of those evenings building a picture of one.

About the drills. Customers have never asked for more drills, but if you need them, we will provide them. Kits come overpacked because the alternative is you, at eleven at night, short of a color, with nothing to do about it. Every bag sealed, numbered, DMC code printed on the front — which matters more here than on anything else we sell. Thirty-five colors, most of them blues that shade into each other and creams that shade into each other. You are not telling them apart by eye. You read the bag.

This canvas is available in 3–5 weeks. It is not sitting on the shelf behind me yet.

When it arrives, every canvas is unfolded, rolled, and re-bagged by hand before it leaves here. Then it ships in a box, not an envelope. That is slower and it costs more. We do it because a canvas that spends a week folded in a mailer is a canvas you fight for every hour you work on it.
